Well, phooey

It looks like I lost the Oberlin house... someone else placed a bid that wasn't contingent to sale of another house. Now my only hope is that they bid some insanely low number and the homeowners reject it.

Maybe I should just buy this house. Although it's located in DeWitt, a good distance from here, it has a lot of room and some good curb appeal. More importantly, it was my grandparents' house from about 1970-1989. The countertops in the kitchen are still my grandmother's favorite color of green (her car was that pistachio-like color), Grandpa's den still has the wood paneling that perfectly complemented the loveseat with the commemorative bicentenial upholstery, and the built-in hutch that I thought held treasure is still in the dining room (you'd be an idiot to remove it). The listing agents forgot to mention that the front sidewalks were wired to heat up and melt ice and that the basement was designed to have an electrical outlet about every foot. Coolest house ever, and not just because it used to also include my Grandpa B, who was widely acknowledged to give the best bear hugs around.
